I rarely make it to the end of American television shows. I just feel like they drag on too long. But I prefer the full-circle one.
Sometimes, however, tragic endings are just for the best. I loved the ending to Wolf's Rain. Or like Severus Snape.

Probably #3.
#3 because deep somewhere inside I wish that there is some 100% right guy for me and that true love exists. Even though I don't believe in that.

I'm on the same boat with spazracing94
The more tragic the ending,
it'll be hard to forget
and have more influences in my life

#1 is okay, it's not great but it's not bad. Usually I like it when it's linked with #3 too, it continues, just with them together.
#2 really gets me to riled up. Main examples being Samurai Champloo and Spirited Away. I know he promised to see her again but...I know he wouldn't. And it's just kinda gives me an unfulfilled feeling.
I do kinda like the full circle thing. Though sometimes it gets kinda "That's so stupid, following in the footsteps b/c he died." Love of Siam (actually features homosexually, so you're forewarned), had an #2 yet #4 feel to it, it wasn't a full circle thing but it was an end of the journey thing to it.
There's a lot I can say about this
