Ok, so we all probably know that when writers write scenarios they research them as best they can in order to make their stories as realistic as possible. So this thread is to ask those questions in order to just get done with the writing and keep going with your story.

For example:

member1 "if a person falls out the two story window, will something break? because my character is pushed out of a building by the villain's girlfriend."

member2 "not really, it'll probably just REALLY hurt though..."
or something like that.

So my question is... well my character was shot in his leg. the bullet didn't go into his leg, it just gave him a scar or something because it kinda missed. he has been losing a lot of blood, so i wanna know if he would get a high fever or something or what would happen? i think it should be noted he's been in a forest kind of place when he was shot and before that he was in a prison, and not a very clean one. oh and he's 14years old if that does anything...

I personally have no questions to ask, but I can answer yours.

1. He wouldn't get a fever, only if he took some kind of medication to help stop the bleeding, and that medication has a side effect that could produce a possible fever.
What would happen is, he would just end up getting and feeling really weak and dehydrated and sluggish(Depending on the amount of blood that is lost)

2. Being in a forest could cause some kind of infection if something goes into the wound when he is shot and he's trying to clean it or something.
Same with being in a dirty prison, if hasn't been cleaned up since that time, if he is trying to self clean the wound or heal it, that dirt and bacteria could cause an infection to the wound. Gangrene, would be the most common probably. Which if not treated, at the worst; kill you, or at the least; amputation.

His age shouldn't be the big of factor. You could factor in his immune system if you take in account of illness or infection, but a 14 year old immune system is pretty solid.

^what if he's a pirate? (didn't really wanna leak anything because it might be possible spoilers for my story but no one really reads it ^^'... so...)

But if i should, i'll go with him getting really wea and dehydrated. that seems best. it's just i don't wanna go and do something a person, or people, will go "come on... no way'd that would happen in real life" even if this is a fiction.

^Salt water is a natural disinfectant and one of the best you can use. (I use it for sore throats)

I can't think of a question right now but I'll come back to this thread. I do tons of research for my fics/stories and I always have questions.

For the guys:

If you just found out that your best friend was dying, what would be your day after reaction?

That is, you've had a day to think about it and...now what?

I believe you just get dizzy if you lose enough blood. Pass out, sleep for a while. You body needs to save enough energy to make new blood to make up for the blood loss.

Here are some coolio links.

Blood loss steps thingies
How much blood can a person lose before it dies?

A good question is does the character have any blood problems? I know I have a problem where it takes my blood forever to clot. It's really annoying, my pet rat bit me the other day, wasn't a huge bite, but it took me a long time to finally stop bleeding. :I

RE:Elven
I know I'm not a guy but it would be determinate by the personality of the guy in question. When a very good friend of the family died my uncle never cried, he basically just took it and accepted it. But my cousin showed his feelings pretty heavily. He cried of and on for a few days.

^That will help when the other character dies but this is more concentrated on when the guy find's out that his friend is/could die and how he reacts to that.

This is the story this question pertains to:

To His Grave
